The Current Economic Mess
How did we get into it, and how do we get out of it?
By Wendell L. Waite, CPA, MBA
Everyone is speculating on how we got into the present economic mess we are in. Most blame the bankers or the rich deal makers on Wall Street or some governmental agency. All these conclusions are wrong. We got caught
in this current economic mess the same way we blindly entered it.
In recent political debates the idea of a “fair tax”
has become popular among independent voters
as well as members of both political parties. Why
has this form of taxation gained favor and why is
it referred to as a “consumption tax?” And is it
“fair” or “grossly unfair.”
Finding the Best Real Estate Professional
Finding the right real estate professional requires doing a little research and
asking a few questions. You need to know everything about the selling process.
What is the marketing strategy? What kind of advertising will be done? Is the Realtor capable and willing to communicate effectively? Can the Realtor effectively present and sell the less-noticeable assets of the property?
Real estate professionals also need to be knowledgeable about the community. They need to have a feel for the history of the area and the approximate price that people will be willing to pay. Also, real estate agents should know what the competition is and how much it will effect your sale.
Here's the lineup of the ten biggest mistakes
that taxpayers make on their tax returns:
As a proprietor (the following only works in a proprietorship), you can
hire your children that are under the age of 18 and pay no federal or
state payroll taxes. Interestingly, they probably will not pay any income
tax on the monies they receive because of the standard deduction limit
of $4,700.
You can’t go to jail because you owe the IRS a
million dollars. However, you can go to jail for
fraud. Not filing return can constitute an intent
to defraud the IRS...
